    SUSTAINABILITY

    Made to last
At Line of Oslo, we believe that the most sustainable garment is one that is worn and loved for years.

Our collections are designed with longevity in mind, combining timeless silhouettes, versatile styling and carefully selected materials. Rather than creating pieces for just one season, we aim to design garments that remain relevant and wearable year after year.

By focusing on quality, durability and timeless design, we strive to reduce unnecessary consumption and encourage a more conscious approach to fashion.

    Reducing waste

Giving garments a longer life is an important part of our sustainability efforts.

Instead of letting beautiful pieces go unused, we continuously offer selected styles from previous collections in our Concept Store. This allows us to reduce excess inventory while giving customers the opportunity to discover timeless favourites from earlier seasons.

We believe that well-designed garments deserve to be worn, regardless of when they were produced.

Whenever possible, surplus products are also donated rather than discarded. In 2016, Line of Oslo was recognised by the City of Oslo for our contributions to child welfare through donations to Ung Norge.

    Animal welfare

Animal welfare has always been one of our highest priorities.

Since day one, Line of Oslo has been recognised by Dyrevernalliansen for our commitment to responsible animal welfare.

All leather and fur used in our collections are ethically sourced from suppliers who meet our standards for responsible animal care and welfare.

    Our Angora wool production

Ensuring the welfare of animals throughout our supply chain is a fundamental part of our values.

Our angora production takes place in China with carefully selected suppliers. The rabbit hair is collected manually using scissors and electric clippers, ensuring that no harm comes to the animals during the process.

Any practice involving pulling hair from rabbits, either by hand or machine, is strictly prohibited.

We carry out regular follow-ups and maintain ongoing dialogue with our suppliers to ensure these standards are consistently met. Our angora suppliers also hold the required certifications from the International Corporation Committee of Animal Welfare.

    Materials

The materials we choose have a significant impact on the lifespan and footprint of our garments.

We continuously work to incorporate fibres such as organic cotton, linen, bamboo, tencel viscose and mohair where appropriate.

An important part of our product development is making use of existing fabrics whenever possible. Rather than producing new fabrics unnecessarily, we actively seek opportunities to reuse high-quality materials that have already been produced. This helps reduce waste while making better use of available resources.

    Responsible production

We have worked with several of the same manufacturing partners since Line of Oslo was founded more than 20 years ago. Long-term partnerships allow us to build strong relationships, maintain close oversight of production and uphold high standards for quality, working conditions and responsible manufacturing.

Today, our collections are produced by carefully selected partners in India, China and Türkiye who share our values and commitment to responsible production.

Respect for the people behind our garments is essential. We expect all suppliers to provide safe working conditions, fair treatment and responsible business practices throughout the production process.

Our Code of Conduct, developed in line with Ethical Trade Norway (formerly IEH), forms the foundation of our supplier requirements.

All of our suppliers hold certifications covering worker safety, responsible chemical management, environmental practices and workplace standards.

Together with our partners, we continuously work to reduce water consumption, improve wastewater treatment and strengthen waste management throughout production.

    Packaging

We continuously work to reduce the environmental impact of our packaging.

Our garments are packed using biodegradable polybags and recycled tissue paper. In our physical stores, we aim to minimise plastic by using paper wrapping and paper shopping bags whenever possible.

    Always improving

    Sustainability is a continuous journey.

We know there is always room for improvement, and we are committed to developing our collections, materials, production methods and packaging in more responsible ways. Every season, we strive to make better choices that contribute to a more sustainable future.
